In academia, which is where my background lies, the literature often focuses on ideal situations where one parent speaks one language. But there are many different types of multilingual families, all very successful.
In this series, I will be posting interviews with multilingual families. They answer questions relating to their multilingual family settings and how it works (or not) for them. Who speaks what, how and why?

Add CommentHi, we are raising our 3 month old son to be bilingual (English and Italian, living in the USA). We both speak Spanish fluently and we have a Ukrainian nanny, who can speak Russian to our son. Before moving forward with Spanish and/or Russian. We were wondering if there are any known negative effects on the child if he were to learn more than 2 languages. We assume there are not but thought you might know better.
